We know that you may be feeling anxious about the events in our city and the world, uncertain about your health, finances and family, among many other concerns, and want you to know that we are still here for you. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, ALL group sessions at Momentum Walk-in Counselling will be provided using an online platform.
These meetings are weekly, ongoing, drop-in and confidential. The Emotional Regulation Group focuses on:
Wednesday September 9: Introduction to group; what is emotion regulation; communication styles; function of behaviors and motivation; skills system for handling difficult emotions; building emotional regulation tool box.
Wednesday September 16: Making decisions and employing action for change; analysis of anger and aggression and ways to control our emotions; adult attachment styles; continuation of the Skills System.
Wednesday September 23: DBT skills for Emotional Regulation; making informed decisions; utilizing our tool box; opposite action; safety planning; continuation of Skills System.
Wednesday September 30: Analysis of our pattern of thinking and challenging our automatic thoughts; developing problem solving techniques to help with stressful feelings/events/situations; tools on how to make lasting change in one’s life; continuation of Skills System.
Wednesday October 7: Unpacking the motions of shame and guilt; understanding how emotions impact relationships; discussing the inner critic; continuation of Skills System.
Wednesday October 14: Closure session; making self-care a priority; how to cultivate a life of happiness and cultivate a positive outlook; applying the Skills System to everyday life to help manage one’s emotion.
